Glantus Present at Bank of Ireland's Inaugural 'Analytics Connect' Event
Glantus were invited to present on the topic of ‘Ethical Data Science’ at Bank of Ireland’s inaugural ‘Analytics Connect’ event on 20th September 2018. The event commenced with Peter Dunne (BOI, Chief Data Officer) outlining the Strategic Roadmap for Data & Analytics at Bank of Ireland. Rob McLaughlin spoke about how Sky used Digital Analytics to Master Omnichannel Personalisation.
Glantus CDO, Joe Keating, spoke about Ethical Data Science and the need for fairness, accountability and transparency in Machine Learning. Joe provided guidance in how organisations can eliminate bias from their approach to modeling and therefore achieve ethical data science:
There is no ‘silver bullet’ measurement which is guaranteed to detect data bias - defining model fairness is task-specific and ultimately requires human judgement.
Peter Tierney represented Leinster Rugby spoke about building relationships with data and people, making reference to the important role that the Data translator plays in enabling decision makers to interpret and understand data.
